Looking for the right golf accessory

If you are really into golf, it’s sort of an addiction. It gets into your blood and clouds your better judgement. You start to think that if only you had the next new golf accessory or gadget, your game would be sure to improve.

Realistically we know that a new golf accessory won’t really improve our game but as Father’s day is near upon us, it’s nice to think about the possibility that we dads will get some great new gadget that will suddenly make our games rock. It probably won’t be a golf gps unit or that cool new putter we really want but just something simple like a golf divot repair tool or golf towel could make our day if not our game.

What Will They Find at the Masters? Nothing till Next Year

Golf does not begin drug testing until July, but mandatory meetings to outline the process was such an eye-opener that some players have begun asking about the need to form a union. Augusta National is part of the World Golf Foundation, meaning drug testing likely will take place at the Masters next year.

Spring has Sprung

At least for now spring is in the air in the midwest. It feels good too. Now is the time to get the clubs cleaned and your mental game on. And in the spirit of everything old (winter) is new (spring) again, I have to say I was awed by Freddie Couples at the Arnold Palmer [Golf] Invitational.

Freddie made 4 birdies in his first 6 holes. Wow! He ended up 5 under for the round. And Freddie with his usual candor says “This doesn’t make me the guy to beat”. Really?

Life is good.

BTW, don’t let your game embarrass you - be sure you’re set with the best golf accessories for this year.

Tiger Takes Accenture Match Play Championship.

It may have looked dicey for a while but Tiger Woods took the Accenture Match Play Championship for his fifth straight victory and 15th World Golf Championship win. This match had Tiger outplaying Stewart Cink 8 and 7 in 36-hole final at Dove Mountain. Woods. In an interesting bit of trivia, Tiger, the holder of all three WGC titles, passed Arnold Palmer for fourth place on the PGA Tour victory list.

Bad Behavior

Good grief what depths will some folks fall to? In this case we are talking about five young men ranging in age from 17 to 20 who stole some golf carts from the Sunol Valley Golf Club and used them for fun in a demolition derby. The ‘derby’ caused what is estimated to be $30,000 of damage.

Because the carts are considered motor vehicles, the young males were arrested for auto theft. Add vandalism to the score card and these guys are in a heap of trouble.

Annual Golf Event

The Fifth Annual Sycamore Town Ship golf outing was held on August 27, 2007. A good time was had by all. The golf event was to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
